I just had to share this...it is 27 degrees out this morning and the neighbor next door is mowing the lawn. In a winter jacket. Because mowing the grass when it is held upright by frost gives a nice crisp cut?  I guess that just goes to show how desperate we all are for spring, lol.
I got the quilts I made for my girls for Christmas back from the quilters this last week. I was so excited when I opened the box!  This week I am working on binding them, finishing a dress for my oldest to wear for Easter, and getting the house ready for hosting Easter dinner. We always have so much fun on holidays, getting together:>)
This isn't the binding I ended up using, I'll show you when they are both finished. I think I'm hooked on quilting now.  Now it's off to work for me.  Don't forget to leave a comment for my give-away. The drawing will be held April 2 so you still have time!

Celebrating Three Years at Kathy's Cottage

Three years of blogging has been one of the best things that ever happened to me.  I have never been a journaler.  I think the piece that was missing for me in journaling was the visual. I'm a very visual person. Not that I don't love words, I do, but they were not enough to spur me on to a commitment with pen and paper. Now blogging... blogging has it all!  The joy of pretty pictures, the ability to put my heart out there on my sleeve, and the joy of finding friends from all over the world!  It has helped me through empty nest syndrom and given me the encouragement to follow my dreams. What can I say but thank you?
And what better way to thank you than with a give away of a cottage. A red gingham cottage with a polka dot roof, ric rac gingerbread trim and a garden out front. Polka dot curtains at the windows and a happy flower garden with vintage pearly centers. Can you believe I even found the perfect little door knob button in my vintage stash?

Leave a comment. Don't worry about being a follower, don't worry about spreading the news on your blog, (although if you do I would love it) Just tell me why you visit.  Tell me your favorite post or photo over the years. Just say hello:>)
I'll draw a name on April 2
And by the way, you will find more cottage pillows in my etsy shop.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet. You have all had a hand in making me happy.  I love you for that:>)

Well it seems like forever since my last post. Even my girls have begun asking, "When are you going to post again mom? I check every day and there is nothing new!" (bless their hearts, I love them so much!)
So, I'm back.  I will be posting my give away tomorrow to celebrate 3 years of blogging, how can it be that I have been doing this that long?
I took some time off to think, to work on new things, to decide where I am going with life.  I didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted to. Not as much sewing, I didn't finish the dining room yet, and the house is still not clean. Lol.  One of the things I decided is that I tend to put too much on my to do list.  I tend to feel guilty if I am not "accomplishing something" every moment.
Enough of that, life is too short to not take some time to put my feet up once in a while and just think. Breathe. Plan.  Some of my best ideas come when I'm not doing anything at all. Probably one of the reasons I can't turn my brain off when I go to bed at night!
Anyways, I don't mean to go on. I've spent my time well. A couple impromptu dinner parties, I did get some sewing done (more on that tomorrow:>) and since I just can't post without a photo, this was dessert last night.  Cleaning out the upstairs freezer I came across some Phyllo dough that just had to be used.  I buttered it, cut it up and stuffed it in muffin cups. Baked them for a few minutes until they were golden and then filled them with cheesecake pudding and topped them with fresh raspberries.  Mmmmm,  quick, easy, pretty, and everyone loved them. My kind of dessert for a last minute party.
Come back tomorrow for the give away.
It's good to be back:>)

Yes, I am still here. I have been signing up for classes that begin next month, trying to concentrate on sewing one last major listing for etsy before I go to school, because with working part time and attending school full time something has to go and I am afraid it will be the sewing. Ah well, different stages in life require different things. I am excited about the direction I am going and I will do my best to not let blogging go by the wayside! That is one thing I can't give up.
While I have been taking my break I have been catching up with some of my favorite blogs that I haven't had a chance to read. One of those is Posy.  She is a cute blogger in England who has the cutest cottage and the sweetest photos.
Like this
and this...
and this one too.
Such pretty things to see. I found this youtube video and song on her site and fell in love with the music.

You should stop by and take a look at her blog, it is pure eye candy:>)

I can't leave you without a teeny peek at what I have been working on.
I hope to have enough done soon to stock the shop :>)
Back to the grindstone, I'll see you all soon!
